Goodbye to Anxiety, Depression, Addiction & PTSD?

HOW DUAL-BRAIN PSYCHOLOGY HELPS

Anxiety can be a debilitating condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Dual-Brain Psychology can be an effective approach for treating anxiety by helping patients view the world from a more mature perspective. By improving the relationship between the two hemispheres of the brain, the traumatized side gains the ability to seee the world from the perspective of the healthier hemisphere, maximizing the potential for effective therapy.

ANXIETY

The road to recovery from addiction can be a rocky one, especially for those suffering from opioid addiction. However, Dual-Brain Psychology has emerged as a new and innovative approach to addiction treatment that holds great promise. Through understanding the split-brain phenomenon and how it affects an individual's behavior and personality, this approach can provide a novel outlook on the healing and transformative capabilities of the brain.

ADDICTION

Depression can cast an unwavering shadow over every aspect of life. However, with Dual-Brain Psychology, there is a glimmer of hope. Nurturing a healthy parent-child relationship between the two hemispheres of the brain can enable patients to view the world from a more mature perspective, providing valuable aid in the therapeutic process to help offer freedom from the shackles of depression.

DEPRESSION

Trauma is anything that causes us deep pain and confusion. It often begins in childhood. It may be overt physical or sexual abuse, but it can also be a covert injury that we need help to understand. Using our more mature mind, we can gain an understanding of the trauma and learn how respond and adequately protect ourselves.

Take a look inside the book

Goodbye Anxiety, Depression, Addiction & PTSD is not just another book on mental health—it's a groundbreaking journey into the untapped potential of Dual-Brain Psychology. Written by veteran psychiatrist Dr. Fredric Schiffer, this transformative work reveals a revolutionary understanding of the way the brain works.

Dr. Schiffer tells us, “All problems come out of early traumas, and very often, it’s trauma that has not been recognized. As the founder of Dr. Schiffer’s Dual-Brain Psychology™, I have discovered a technique to treat the troubled mind using something as unlikely as a piece of junk mail or sunglass designed to activate either the right or left brain. My work is detailed in my new book, Goodbye Anxiety, Depression, Addiction & PTSD: The Life-Changing Science of Dual-Brain Psychology.

"Dr. Schiffer’s latest publication, The Life-Changing Science of Dual-Brain Psychology, builds brilliantly upon the foundational insights of his first book Of Two Minds. I was thoroughly captivated by his initial explorations and am now thrilled by how this new book not only expands and updates his pioneering research in dual-mind psychology but also integrates infrared photobiomodulation therapy to yield outstanding outcomes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, addiction, and PTSD. Dr. Schiffer's groundbreaking ideas mark a significant breakthrough in the treatment of mental disorders, providing a beacon of hope for individuals struggling with these conditions."

THE REVIEWS ARE IN!

"What the insights of dual-brain psychology and Dr. Schiffer’s books have brought to me is to increase my level of compassion and relaxation when I am with suffering people. For no matter how badly someone is "acting out," I know that inside, there is a more mature personality that I can relate to and address. The other thing I really like about Dr. Schiffer’s dual-brain psychology is that it basically does not negate anyone's previous understanding of human nature or counseling techniques but rather deepens one's understanding. It shows at a deeper level why what they do is 'working.'"

OF TWO MINDS

By fredric schiffer, m.d.

Most people experience themselves as two-sided: one side seems mature and stable, the other emotional and impulsive. But have you ever wondered if there really are two minds in each of us? If so, do traumatic as well as ordinary experiences affect the way our minds grow and interact? According to Fredric Schiffer, a leading Harvard psychiatrist and researcher, advances in science prove what many of us have always intuited is true: We are of two minds, each one with a different degree of maturity, and each one associated with the left or the right brain. This brilliant, provocative book illustrates how the interaction of these two minds -- whether they sabotage each other or work in harmony -- actually determines our psychological nature and ultimately the emotional problems or progress we may experience in life.

PRAISE FOR OF TWO MINDS

"Dr. Schiffer rivals Freud in his revolutionary theories on understanding the human psyche. He convincingly portrays the workings of two autonomous minds in one consciousness - offering a radical new strategy in treating a multitude of illnesses, both mental and physical. I believe Dr. Schiffer's insights will be very useful for those of us waiting to optimize a harmonious, healthy, balance among our body, minds, and emotions."

-Candace B. Pert, Ph.D., Author of Molecules of Emotion

REVIEW 1

"Of Two Minds provides the reader with a lucent expose of the evolving understanding of the dual mind/brains that we all possess. This book offers new ways of understanding unconscious mental processes and their role in the activation, processing, and integration of experience. Fredric Schiffer not only clarifies the neuroscience of our dual-brain system, but also provides numerous illustrations of how the application of this understanding can lead to healthier and happier lives."

MEET

Fredric Schiffer, M.D.

Dr. Fredric Schiffer has the key to treating past trauma and eliminating drug, alcohol and gambling cravings which most people suffer from for life.

Through his groundbreaking work as founder of the Dual-Brain Psychology Institute, he has discovered that the brain is made up of two minds which are competing for dominance. When the immature and troubled half of the brain is treated, Dual Brain Psychology techniques can successfully curb anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction, and improve psychological wellbeing.

Dr. Schiffer’s latest book, Good-bye Anxiety, Depression, Addiction & PTSD: The Life-Changing Science of Dual-Brain Psychology, takes an indepth look at the science behind Dual-Brain Psychology while offering practical tips and tools to try it for yourself. His book also shares the many triumphs of patients who have had their lives forever changed by his work.

Dr. Schiffer is an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, a research associate at McLean Hospital, and also maintains a private practice of adult psychiatry in Newton, Massachusetts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dual-Brain Psychology proposes based on extensive research that most psychological problems come from traumas. Usually they are early traumas that are long forgotten but which set off a cascade of injuries and failures. A mother who is unresponsive leaves a child feeling injured and unworthy. This leads to peer problems and school problems each of which become new traumas on top of the initial insults.

Dual-Brain Psychology through extensive research has discovered that each brain hemisphere has a somewhat separate mind and that one of these minds is more affected by past traumas and that the other side is relatively healthy. Dual-Brains Psychology uses this fact to assist patients in dealing with their psychological issues, whether in psychotherapy, or with some tools that we have developed and test it or both.

We haven't tested everybody in the world, but we believe that a majority of people have different minds, complete minds, that are each associated with one brain hemisphere. We have found that typically one of the sides, and it could be the left side or the right side. is more troubled by past traumas that are often covert, while the other side is much healthier. These two minds are similar, but see the world differently. From one mind, I might look critical and from the other, empathic and supportive. The side on which I look critical may be associated with unwanted cravings. But both sides have the same address and the same name, and regard themselves as the same person.

Yes, often these two minds are usually unaware of each other and one mind tends to dominate. Often it is a troubled mind that dominates. A person may wake up in the morning, anxious and depressed and get a phone call of some urgency and find that the anxiety and depression have disappeared. I believe that there is a switch in the hemisphere dominance, and that the healthier side took control because of the crisis. The aim of Dual-Brain Psychotherapy is to get the healthier side to become a co-therapist. The aim of the therapy is to help the troubles side deal with its past traumas and work constructively with the healthy side to become part of a healthy person.

The first method that I developed, we call lateral visual field stimulation. It turns out that the lateral half of each eye is connected to the opposite brain hemisphere and looking out one lateral visual field tends to activate the opposite brain hemisphere and its associated mind. In practice this is very interesting. Looking out one lateral visual field, and it might be left or right, the person may find an increase in cravings that are unwanted such as for alcohol or drugs or gambling. Out the opposite lateral visual field, within seconds there is a drastic change and a reduction in those cravings. This is always remarkable to observe. My new book goes into great detail about this. Another method is for me speak directly to the little boy or little girl inside, and I might say we need you to help us and work with us and not try to dominate. Surprisingly, often by doing so the patient can feel an immediate improvement (provided the troubled side is willing to cooperate). All of these things have to be witnessed to be appreciated. Again, they are described in my new book.

In my experience as a psychiatrist, most (but not all) patients, achieve an insight to their problems that they never had before, and this helps begin the work of addressing the past traumas that are the cause for the present symptoms. Being able to stimulate each hemisphere of the brain is an important adjunct to the psychotherapy. Our LED treatment is being evaluated by the FDA and the NIH for the treatment of opioid addiction and for this we are using only the LED (without psychotherapy). At present the LED is not FDA yet approved and are not for sale. We also are developing special sunglasses that are designed to reduce stress by stimulating the positive brain hemisphere and its healthier mind and and so far they have been shown to be extremely effective and we hope to have them for sale soon. Again, all of this is elaborated in my forthcoming book, Good-bye Anxiety Depression Addiction and PTSD: The Life-Changing Science of Dual-Brain Psychology.
